Scarecrow
The Scarecrow is a character in the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. He is one of the four main characters in the story, along with Dorothy Gale, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion.
The Scarecrow is a tall, thin man made of straw. He has a round head, a long nose, and a big mouth. He wears a hat and a raggedy coat. He is very intelligent, but he lacks common sense. He longs for a brain so that he can be wise.
The Scarecrow joins Dorothy on her journey to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard of Oz. The Wizard promises to give the Scarecrow a brain if he brings him the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West.
The Scarecrow helps Dorothy on her journey. He is brave and resourceful, and he comes up with many clever plans. He also provides comic relief.
The Scarecrow eventually gets his wish for a brain. The Wizard gives him a diploma that says he is "the smartest man in the world." The Scarecrow is happy with his new brain, but he realizes that it is not as important as he thought it would be. He learns that true wisdom
